INDIA, Kushan Empire. Kanishka I, circa 127/8-152. Dinar (Gold, 19 mm, 8.00 g, 12 h), Baktria, probably Balkh. þAONANOþA KANηþKO KOþANO ('King of Kings, Kanishka the Kushan' in Baktrian) Kanishka I standing front, head to left, sacrificing with his right hand over altar and holding trident in his left. Rev. OHþO ('Oesho' in Baktrian) Oesho, with four arms, standing front, head to left, head surrounded by halo, holding water-pot and elephant goad in lower right hand, thunderbolt in raised right, trident across body in upper left hand, and uncertain animal (goat or buck) by the horns with his lower left hand; to left, tamgha. A few minor nicks, otherwise, about extremely fine.
